More Finished UCBs

Happy Day, Stamplings!

I hope all is well with you, wherever you are!

We are having a wonderful and busy time, but I did manage a bit of craftiness to put the finishing touches on a few more EZPZ cards from the Unfinished Card Bits (UCB) box.

I have to keep Hammy from going into complete withdrawal mode, you know. Left to his own devices he'd be sunbathing in the hammock with a pitcher of Tequila Sunrises! Oh, wait, no, that'd be me.

Onefers
These lacy cream-colored card bases are ancient; I think they came from SU. I adhered a strip of Brusho snippets behind the lacy opening and then attached a panel of colored card behind that.

I'm entering the top lemon and lime concoction in the current challenge at Less Is More, where they want to see the colors of tropical fruits. I'm entering the bottom card in the "Pastel Pencils" Fusion Card Challenge, where I'm playing with just the inspiration photo.

Twofers

This selection of happy cards is pretty self-exploratory. The Hooray bases are by Clearly Besotted and they were given to me by my friend Greta a very long time ago. It felt good to make them into cards! Thank you, Greta! The top two backgrounds were made with alcoholic inks on glossy paper and the bottom two backgrounds were made with Brushos. The sediment is from the "Sweet Wishes" set by Penny Black.

I'm entering the top left-side card in the new CAS Mix Up Card Challenge. I've used the required stamping, plus alcoholic inks, plus die-cutting.

Threefer
Again, very simple. I used an MFT stitched circle for the aperture. The tiny bird and bird cage have been in my stash since the cows came home. I attached it and a snippet of pink ribbon to the card with a brad. I'm entering the current "Happy Birthday" Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and the "Pretty in Pink" challenge at City Crafter.

Okay, I must dash waddle off! It's been fun reducing the UCB box, increasing my stash, and keeping Hammy happy!

Take it, it's yours

Enjoy your day!  No, seriously, enjoy!  LITS!*

Reminder: I'm over at the Just Us Girls Challenge as Guest Designer for August. This is Word Week and the word is "Shower." I'd love to see you play along!! You have until 9 p.m. EST on Thursday, August 10th to play along!

As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower!  Please let me know you came by so I can be sure to return the flavor!

Great post with lots of amazing cards, Dolly!! Love them all!! And bonus that you used up several things from your UCB!! I need to do that too. It's gotten so bad that I started filing more unfinished project pieces in other areas. Maybe trying to hide the shame from myself?? They are taking over.

Love the lacy card with the Brushos background. Such pretty colours and a perfect CAS design. Also love your four Hooray cards ... again, beautiful colours for your circle backdrops. And that bird in the cage is just so sweet!

Your mojo is on fire right now. Could you send any extra up my way??!! :) Lolly xx

You have been busy and the results are great as ever. I'm glad I'm not the only one trying to use things from my UCB's and other places like card scraps boxes - ?CSB's (have loads of those) and as for 'stuff' from way back, don't ask.

Wow, this is a range of gorgeous cards and I can't say which one I like the best!

A real feast for the eyes today, glad Hammy is keeping you busy using up the stash box but I hope you both find time for a Tequila Sunrise too! Hugs, Annie xxx

Wow, you have bee busy Darnell and some very creative uses for your UCB's. The lacy cards are so pretty using your brusho bits, and the sentiment frames with more beautiful AI and brusho backgrounds in such gorgeous coliurs, and then that sweet birdcage with another wknderful background. I have so many odd bits which I should utilise so thank you for showing us how to make the most of them. x

Wow, a wonderful set of cards, all of them are gorgeous. I think the Hooray die may have been ab Cleatly Besotted one, not that it matters in the slightest! Hope you (and Hammy) are finding some time to relax in the hammock with a large glass of something cold x

I'm shocked that your UCB's haven't all been used by now. You keep crankin' these sweet little numbers out, right and left. Don't know which me eyes should land first...but think that "til the cows come home" caged bird has my heart. I do have an affinity for birds. Hope your vacation is all it's cracked up to be and the weather cooperates fully. Have a drink on me...it's getting dry around here.

Darnell, what a great bunch of cards. I really love that first two with that lovely, delicate die and the pretty Brusho snippets behind it. The others are fabulous too. You have been busy.

Hi Darnell,
sometimes I get a bit confused as I don't understand some of abbreviations on items used.
I suppose it's just my fuddled old brain.
Your cards are very beautiful and gorgeous as usual.
Their designs are so wonderful, and so very different from anything I have seen before.
Love the super lacy edged ones the most.
Love and big crafty hugs from my houe to yours. Jenny L.

Leslie Miller said...

I'm overwhelmed with your creativity and productivity, Darnell! Those lacy edged cards are so pretty and make me think they might be a good way to use some backgrounds that didn't come out quite right. I mean, your backgrounds look gorgeous and probably don't need to be covered, but I've made some horrendous ones. I love those hooray cards, too! The way you've arranged the stars and sentiment -- brilliant! The colors of the bottom two are my faves. And then there's that cutest birdie in a bird cage ever! Totally adorable and another pretty background! You continually inspire me!

Bunny said...

Lots of pretty things to look at. I especially love those lacy things from SU that can probably be never found again. Oh those are lovely cards.

When the cows come home at my house all they ever bring is milk. Which is fine, but I like chocolate milk.

Everyone of these cards is beautiful!! Love it when 1) you get twofers and 2) you can use some UCB's. So it's a win-win for everyone. I need to finish some of the cards in my UCB stash. Thanks for the reminder. Have a wonderful day!

Linda said...

What a stunning collection today Darnell .... and using up all those unfinished bits too, great job! My box just keeps getting bigger!
Those pretty lace borders are gorgeous and I love the die cut circles (great background colours on those) but the cute little birdie is my favourite .... so sweet!
I think you deserve that tequilla sunrise my friend ..... cheers! xx

Ruth said...

They are all fabulous! Isn't it a good thing we keep all this stuff just in case we find we need it some day in the future? The colourways with the first set are lovely and fruity. The second set of cards use a Clearly Besotted shaker Die which I have and have only used once. For shame. I shall have to get it out again won't I! Keep on crafting! Xx

A wonderful array of colourful and gorgeous backgrounds for these cards! Each one is a pure delight! Enjoy your tequila sunrise, hammy too of course! Hugs xxxxxxxx

The hammock and the pitcher of cold drinks sounds great - I'm exhausted from trying to do lots of DTGD challenges! Love your two lacy cards - such pretty colours on both of them. And your Hooray cards look like a perfect design for a batch production. You sure did get a lot out of your UCB box!

Claire said...

Looks like you've had a productive, creative run Darnell. What a great way to use those pretty, lacy card bases. You've combined old fashioned lace with modern colours and it totally works...so pretty! Loving the simple die cuts in the next cards too. Thanks for playing along at Fusion this week!

Your pretty cards keep me going!

Goodness, that's more than a bit of craftiness, Darnell ... that's a veritable feast ... what a treat! Those delicate lacy borders are so pretty ... put me in mind of lace edged embroidered tray cloths my grandmother and her friends used to serve tea on! Cool, crisp, graphic brusho cards, the contrast between the vibrant colour and the white die cut is delicious ... and that little chick swinging merrily on it's perch is such a sweetie, so cute! LYAMYHMAEATWB! Big hugs & bisous, Anita :)

What a plethora of wonderful creations. I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself. I seem wordy this morning. I love the lacy cards but I also love the ones you used the alcohol inks and brushos on. That is a great design you used with them. The bird in the cage is so cute hanging on the ribbon. I tried to enter the challenge you guested on but I couldn't resize and believe me, I tried hard.

What an inspiration you are Darnell, so many beautiful one-fer, two-fer and even an three-fer! Especially as it's mostly from our UCB stash...never heard that term before but I've certainly got at least one of those boxes!!! The middle ones are CBS dies ... I've a couple of those and they've not nearly been played with enough! Yikes! Love all your bold and fun backgrounds and especially that zesty mix of lemon and lime for Less is More set behind a super elegant die-cut lacy panel. Just stunning throughout and thanks as always for playing along with us. x

Forget to get back to this post yesterday & wanted to be sure & tell you how much I love those first 2 cards! Thinking of how to use some of my dies for a look like those card bases--beautiful! The Hooray cards are neat, too! That die is Clearly Besotted & I sent some of those die cuts to you way back when I won it at The Playground, so you should have some more to play with!

Lisa T said...

I don't think I have come across anyone who can utilise those UCBs as well as you Darnell. I have tons of panels of experiments that really should be turned into cards. You have made 7 gorgeous cards from bits you have created and not left in a humungous folder for "the future". So inspiring! Brusho makes for wonderful backgrounds and I have yet to try alcohol inks, but they are high on my wish list. Maybe next month.... Lisa xx
