A Christmas Baublet

Hey, there!

How are you? I hope you're doing well! Any plumbing problems? You know I just had my personal plumbing problems fixed, but guess what happened yesterday? The main line to our home became plugged due to tree roots! Ka-ching! Ka-ching!

What to do?

Why, go to the Playhouse and talk to you, of course!

When I was resting and visiting friends around Blogland, I noticed a coupla five challenges that I wanted to participate in. Thanks to Serena Dipity, I happen to have a card to share that I made before Christmas, but never posted.
To make this QACAS card, I cut the Poppystamps "Merry Ornament" from a snippet of Brusho background I made and then attached it to a fine linen panel. That was matted with a snippet of Christmas green textured paper that I've had since the end of the last century.

Lastly, I covered the bauble with Modgepodge Dimensionals. Here's a closeup. Shade your orbs!

NBUS Challenges

I want to sincerely thank all of you who played in my three-week, three-part NBUS celebration challenges! I've made my way through the amazing galleries in #8 and #9 and commented on at least one of each participant's gorgeous entries. I should be through #10 in a few days. You ladies are the BEST of crafters and friends!!
Please note that I have Pinterest boards for each of the NBUS challenges for you (and me) to visit again and again for inspiration!

I will be back on Monday with the winners' post!

Miss Elaine E. Us

I'm very sad to share that the baby hummer did not make it. I've already seen the mama collecting spider webs, but I'm trying hard NOT to see where the new nest is.💧

But on a cheerier note, I want to share with you these get-well cards that 12-year-old Adam and Henry made for me:
All those early years spent crafting in the Playhouse with Bama paid off! They make GREAT cards for me, even if they depict bloody limbs!!😊

~~~
Enjoy your day and the weekend! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor!
A gorgeous card - what a fab use for the brusho background. I'm amassing quite a collection of test pieces that are too small for backgrounds but too pretty to throw away - die cutting is the way forward!
Very sad about the baby hummer, but then, nature being red in tooth and claw and all that, some other lucky critter has survived because that little one didn't. They're all part of the greater picture, predators and predatees.
And no, I hadn't thought of the bubble wrap background looking like a beehive, but I can see it now....
What a stunning card Darnell - so good to see you able to create again!! And to hear that you are being good (???) and taking life quietly and looking through your galleries of the fabulous NBUS challenges. Thank you for them - you really made me use some stash :-).
I do hope Hammy was not too lonely out in the Playhouse on his own, and that he did not create a mess - creative or not!
Love the grandson's cards to you - well taught Bama!!
Glad your recovery is progressing and sorry you have water troubles in the house! We have water troubles of our own but not of the plumbed variety. As I type I can hear the rumble of heavy wagons as they come down the lane to the Railtrack compound, adding further ruts to our poor lane as the water cascades down from the broken field drain they smashed last week. It is an ongoing saga, the UPS man was held up 25mins this morning for some reason, he was not pleased!
Love the bright Christmas bauble, the Brusho panel works so well. Sorry I couldn't join in at the challenge as the only NEBUS I had to use was restricted until after the event closed! Keep smiling. xx
Glad to hear your up and about after your recent plumbing. We have the decorator in this week doing phase 2 of the Bathroom refurb so I'm holed up in the craft room holding my nose from the paint fumes that are leaking in under the door. Not good to hear about the treet roots. We got a letter this morning from the waterboard requesting that due to the constant call outs they have been receiving and having to come out and unblock the said drains would we please refrain from flushing wet wipes, cotton buds,dental floss, fat and oil and wait for it Tights down the loo TIGHTS!! Good grief are they serious. I know the letter has gone out to everyone in the area but it was a bit of an insult as it is The Doc who has to call em out on a regular basis. No one between us and the drain out on the main road seems to notice their plumbing back filling (or probably see Big Bertha ((the sludge gulper)) parked up on such a regular basis that they think it is routine maintenance and don't need to inform the council.!!) The Doc on the other hand is on first name terms with em! Rant over Hugs Mrs A.
P.s I loves yer bauble. you can put the poilish and gene lamp away now.
Love the card and the shine on the bauble! So pretty. Mostly I was happy to see you posting! So happy you are feeling well enough! Oh gosh, tree roots are not fun when they mess with the plumbing. I kind of remember that from when I was growing up and the HUGE pine tree roots in our front yard messed up some pipes. So sorry to hear about the hummer. :( But enjoyed the interesting cards from your grandsons! Hey they took the time to make them...huge blessing! Hope the rest of your recovery goes smoothly! Hugs!
So sorry to hear about the baby hummingbird :( What a shame :( Glad you're ok though and hopefully fully recovered! I do love the get well cards (despite the severed limbs, lol). Your card is fantastic, such a bright and vibrant colour palette and *very* stylish! Love it! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Less is More :)
Love your card, but I gotta say...........that bloody limb card is really cool. Actually I didn't have my glasses on and couldn't tell what they were until you told us. I thought they were needles. Confined to bed is no fun either The card was fun though. Love the sun. Sorry about the outside plumbing. I can see the $$$$ floating out of the ground. Glad the inside plumbing is working better.
Your card is a stunner! Love the cards from the twins...severed limbs? What have they been watching on tv? Sad news bout the little hummer and your house plumbing. When I lived in Denver that was a yearly happening :( Hope you are mending well and speedily. Gentle hugs from and furry tickley ones from the Girls. Oops don't laugh :)
I adore your bright and pretty bauble Darnell and love the shine. So glad you are recovering well from your op and had a snigger at the great cards from Adam and Henry, they have a wonderful sense of humour. Sad the baby hummer didn't make it but maybe the next one will as the law of averages says one has got to survive. Relax and take care. x
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear about the new plumbing issue. It probably goes back to the root of the problem. Sorry, it's still early and I'm trying to lighten your mood. That is a shame though. This card is lovely in its simplicity. The Brusho background is beautiful and the matching green cardstock really makes it pop. I think you may have mislead your grandsons about the type of surgery you had that made him create severed limbs. Seriously, I think that's wonderful that they made you cards themselves. I'm happy to see you commenting but still taking it easy. Hope your new meds are doing the trick and things are going well.
Haha, I love seeing your grandson's cards that they made for you! They are the cutest! Bloody limbs and all - that is just too funny! Glad you are starting to heal and feel better and so sorry about your house plumbing. I had this problem many years ago at my old house and it was definitely cha-ching, cha-ching because a backhoe had to come dig up the yard, along with part of my stone wall and driveway. So I needed to replace the stone wall and have the driveway repaved! Cha-ching! I hope yours will not be that bad! Your card is very cute and I love the dimension you added to the bauble! Hanging my head to say that I have this die and it is NBUS!
Your Christmas stash will be filled before you know it, if you're not careful! This is a fabulous CAS card. I do love the merriness that these brusho die cuts give to your card, and the dimension that modgepodge has added. So cool. So sad about the little hummer, too. Hopefully, Mrs. H. will hide her nest from those other darn birds, and a new baby will appear soon. Great cards from A&H. Had a real laugh seeing those 'bloody limbs....' And that's you, i take it confined to bed. How sweet of those kids! You're a pretty awesome Bama!!!! And a pretty awesome friend, too. Hated to hear about the tree roots...dang! Let me check to see if I won the lottery, and if I did, don't even worry about the cost.... Love you, miss you.xoxoxo Bev
Yay for a stack of premade panels! Your snippet-turned-die-cut looks just wonderful! Also love to see how talented the boys are. Good luck with the plumbing and NOT trying to find where the new nest is.
The cards from the boys are cute. I will have one winging it's way to you tomorrow...got a bit behind as my Mum passed away early this week an there has not seemed to be an extra minute since. So many arrangements to make as we have had terrible weather with the mountain passes closed and about 18 inches of frozen snow where I live. Relatives and friends have to travel thru that to get here so we are trying to arrange family to take them in while they are in town.
Hugs to you and hope you get stronger every day!
Darling baublet, Darnell! Cute cards from the kiddos too - glad you're healing!! And sorry about the plumbing probs - no fun, I know!!
LOVE that sparkling baublet. The modge podge really adds something. Tree roots are the bain of plumbing especially depending on the age of your home and the wacky stuff they used to use for the conduit. My Dad had to replace his asphalt wrapped cardboard with pvc a few years ago. Crazy Cali building codes 50+ yrs ago.
Oh that is a lovely card!! LOVE the marbling on the paper. As for plumbing-that happened to us when I was pregnant for Charlotte. Try having to throw up and not being able to use the toilet-Yikes!! I hope you get it all fixed without it losing too much money!!
Well, your second plumbing issue doesn't sound pleasant at all, but at least it didn't impact *your* body parts (hope your healing is happening swiftly). On the plus side, glad that said situation nudged you into the Playhouse and the ensuing discovery of your gorgeous ornament card. CAS-loving heart completely captivated! Poor baby hummingbird...The twins' cards are fantastic, bloody limbs and all! Yep, that crafting time is paying off supremely well...they're artistic AND thoughtful!
PS. Waiting for my husband to return from his business trip to Austria tomorrow; we have *places* to go *grin* Nervous AND excited...breathe...breathe...breathe...
CONGRATS on your well-deserved win at Merry Monday, Darnell! Your Brusho's really made this bauble pop...WOW! I love your CAS design, and that you chose fine linen for your card base...so elegant!
I'm so sorry to hear that baby hummer didn't make it...You and the Mr. couldn't have done a better job looking out for him, that's for sure!
On the lighter side, I really love the fab cards you received from the boys...the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, Bama ~ So sweet!
There is a reason we keep all our snippets! And this is so we can make beautiful bauble ornaments out of them. What a gorgeous CAS card it is Darnell. I don't know much about Modgepodge but it looks interesting and worth investigating.... such a super pretty card. I had to laugh at the two get well soon cards, so funny what children draw (and say). I bet they put a big smile on your face! Hugs, Lisa xx
Darnell, Congrats on your well-deserved win over at Merry Mondays! This card is CAS perfection. :)
Hi Darnell
Wish I could do CAS with your style. This is fab and that's one shiney bauble you have there.
Sorry to hear of the further plumbing issues (at least this one will just be painful on the pocket) and of the demise of the baby hummer. Nature can be cruel sometimes.
Great cards from the twins. Bloody limbs are probably better than a sketch of what you really had done lol! ...... it's a family blog lol!
Chuckle - Baublet!! Sorry to hear about your plumbing problems - I hear that - we got flooded this year and had to put in a lot of drainage stuff, and that's after a leak last year in a different part. Kaching indeed!! Love the card, so cute, fabulous shine and sparkle!! Thank you for joining us at the HLS Watercolor Challenge. Jenny x
