Trees of Cupcake and Pine

Hi there!

If you're a baseball fan, you've enjoyed this year's World Series! We have a yearly championship series where the winner is decided by whichever team wins the most games out of seven games. No matter which of the two teams you were rooting for, you were happy it went all the way to seven games, and you saw some outstanding baseball being played! Congratulations to the Chicago Cubbies for the win and for breaking the 108-year curse!

And now, how about we start with a tag today?
I cut a stitched tag with a Dienamics die and stamped the image in Versafine. I used a vo wooden stamp from SU with an image of a cake stand stacked high with six cupcakes. I colored the stand with my Ziggies. I then used two itty-bitty and vo NBUS punches from SU to punch the itty-bitty cupcakes in PP and I glued them over the inked cupcake images. I added a little shading to my pink frosting to make you want to swipe your finger in it for a taste. I backed the creamy tag with a neon green tag and tied them together with some gold and pink ribbon.

I did all of that because I was inspired by this tag:
The creator of the above beautiful tag is Ruby of A Rare Ruby, who is the featured guest designer for the current Tag You're It challenge. I think you can see the elements that inspired me!

And how about a Christmas card? Or two:
Another QACAS card for batch-making. The brilliant vellum paper is from SU. The unknown die was borrowed at the Lake House. I made several cards with green bases and several with white bases.

Ergo Nomics

I copied this old photo from the "My Playhouse" tab at the top of my blog. This row of filing cabinets is on the west wall of the Playhouse for storing some of my color families of paper, ribbon, and markers.

Below is a photo I took a coupla days ago. (I started clearing things out before I thought to take a picture for you.)
You can see my guillotine cutter and Big Shot on top of the filing cabinets. Bending over to cut paper was starting to whack my already wacky back. (In truth, I usually use the BS on the floor so I don't have to bend and twist. You know, because getting up and down from the floor is a breeze at my age.)

So a couple of weeks ago I bought a vowel, which is another way of saying I had a light bulb moment, which is another way of saying I got smart. The kicker was when Hammy looked up from his coloring book and queried, "What are all those loud creaking sounds?" Really? It became clear that I am TDO for this arrangement and changes needed to be made before I really hurt myself.

Now it looks like this:
Aaaah! Much better! Huge thanks to the Mister for putting together all four cabinets last (rainy) weekend! They are so streamlined and pretty and they hold so much. Most important, the counter-height is fantastic. BTW, these cabinets are an IKEA knockoff that I bought from Wally (Walmart) for a third of the cost. I have IKEA cabinets on the other wall and, as near as I can tell, Wally's are just fine.

Where's my BS? I beg your pardon? Oh. I've made a place for it on the end of my desk where I don't have to bend or twist. Whoop!

Unfortunately, there's a downside that I hadn't considered. Now a certain little hamster is having the time of his life racing from drawer to drawer through those little hand holes. Sometimes he hides in a drawer and scares the carp out of me in the process, much to his delight!

~~~
We are having the grandtwins for a sleepover from today through Sunday ~ oh, and the two granddogs, too, of course!  With the boys' activities, we don't see them as much as we did when they were younger, so we are really looking forward to it!
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor!
Oh Darnell - what an amazing play house you have, and so well organised - would you like to come and help me organise mine??? So glad Hammy was the motivation for your re-arrangement, I thought he was 'packing a sad'(as we say down under) as we had not heard about him for a while.
Love your cards, as ever, and that tag is awesome - those layers of cupcakes are perfect!!
Love your tag! And I remember using this stamp at a friend's house when I was just starting to stamp - only a little while ago now.
I am so envious of your new storage a) I wish I had the space b) which I could get some here that was cheaper than IKEA.
Enjoy the grandtwins :)
Love your tag AND that you used some very old NBUS. Give it a few years and I'll be there too ;) I absolutely adore the shine on that vellum and your very clean and simple trees. My kind of quick card :) And hurrah you for sorting out your drawers (ahem!) I can't wait to get mine finally sorted - and a trip to IKEA in the New Year :) xx
Wonderful tag Darnell - sluuuurp :) Sure looks good enough to eat. And the Christmas card design is fabulous, the backing and the die cut are a match made in Heaven.
LOVE your new units - I'm sure we creak as we get older! Len keeps saying I need oiling with some WD40. Certainly your new set up should make things much easier :)
Your cupcake tag looks yummy and makes my mouth water. That Christmas paper is just beautiful. I love the super shiny trees on it. What a difference the new drawer units make for you. I don't bend as easy as before and had to get my trimmer and BS up higher too. I am so happy for the Cubs. But so tired for me! I stayed up for every game and last night's rain delay really made it late. They really played well and it was a great series. Have a delightful time with the twins. I dread the time my grands won't have time to come to grams house any more for fun, not just occasions. We are all looking forward to time at the cabin over Thanksgiving week.
I love your yummy cake tag with the prettily coloured and shaded image Darnell, and that bright backer and ribbons look great, also your beautiful gold embossed vellum Christmas cards, and love both the base card colours and the fab die cut trees on top. Wow, your new cabinets are the beez kneez too and at a better height for your back. Enjoy your weekend with the twins, and the dogs too of course. x
Two lovely cards Darnell ...especially love the 'cake' one...one mention of cake and I am there!
Wow what a transformation of your Playhouse working space...the white drawers are a great improvement on the black....do wish we had Wally here...we have ASDA which is owned by Wally but the stores are small compared to 'Wally' is the USA...I had a ball when I went into one some years ago when on holiday...
Princess Judy Palmer said...
ah ha! The light bulb has come on for you about no more bending over. Oncest I moved my cutter and BS ended up on top of 2 2-drawer cabinets shoved next to each other. My cabinets weren't even as tall as yours as the 1 drawer wasn't file sized. It would have been okay for rolling the chair over and using but the carpet was too thick for chair rolling. It was terrible for bending over. So I replaced those cabinets with a 3-drawer lateral file cabinet. It's the bomb! It holds a ton of stuff and is the perfect height for standing at for cutting and BS-ing.... and gosh knows I need the exercise except the day my foot hurt so bad then I just piled up my stuff next to my desk on a faux-IKEA rolling cart and used them on the desk as needed. Anyway, I'm sure you will be so happy with this new setup even with crazy hamsters scaring you half to death twice.
I like your cupcake tag and I applaud your giving the frosting a highlight job because I did reach out my finger to grab a swipe. :-)
Those strawberry cupcakes look delicious and make a very pretty tag with the green backing! And thanks for the idea of what to do with this tree paper that I have quite a bit of. Great idea to get the paper cutter higher. I need to see if I can figure a way to do that. Cutting lots of cards is a real pain in the shoulders! Have a great weekend with the grands!
Computer issues + busy at work = WAY BEHIND in commenting! MTS is still trying to figure out what the heck is going on. Do you think I'm on the verge of snapping? Hell yeah!!!
Awesome cards, awesome post (yay Cubs!) and AWESOME new shelves!!! Your cute cupcake card is totally 'sweet' and has me fighting the urge to walk across the street to the bakery for a treat! Gorgeous sparkle and shine on the tree cards! Love that you kept the designs clean and simple so as not to steal the limelight from that glorious paper!
Have fun with the twinks...and the puppies!
Pretty yummy looking tag Darnell, and beautiful Christmas cards. I like your new cabinets in your craftroom and have been wanting to pay a visit to Ikea to get something higher for my BS, paper cutter etc. Might have to look at Wally's. Bending over is a killer for our old backs. Lol...
Love the tags and the gorgeous sparkly Christmas cards.
I avoid, as much as possible doing anything that involves getting down on my knees, unless Hubby or something solid is there for me to use to get up again.
Fabulous photo's and a really smart Playhouse.
Same here regarding Grandsons as they are also getting older too and they do not stay over as much as they used to but we have just had a week in Scotland with them when it was half-term so that was brilliant, it is nice to see them grow up but sometimes I wish they were still young. Hey ho.
Time for a much needed catch-up and accompanying 'cheer up', which has already started with this post! Yummo cupcakes and fabulous shimmery trees! Your new cabinets have certainly caught my eye, as I'll be in the market for a few of those very soon (E.X.C.I.T.E.D!) I had Ikea ones on my list; great to know Wally's offer an alternative (hopefully they'll have similar ones north of the border). THANK YOU x a zillion for your beautiful sympathy card that arrived yesterday; gorgeous, heart-warming, touching and yes, the tears flowed. On another note, I especially appreciate that you bequeathed Andy with my last name on the address. That sent me into a second bout of "tearing up" in a good way...giggles galore. I often told him he should take my name upon our marriage...tee hee!
