Hope Happens

Greetings, stamplings!

I hope you had a lovely long weekend if you live where long weekends were happening. And now look. We whooshed right into June, halfway through another year! Move along, people. You're all numb from shock, so please remember to stay hydranated.

Where I live we are having a presummer heatwave with temps in the high 90s and it's spose to be up to 104 degrees or higher by Friday. Ugh. I am one of those fragile flower types with a hamster and we do not like brutal heat. I'll be taking my wodka to the bathroom where the air conditioning vent freezes the tile floor.

For your card-watching pleasure today, I brought you a sunshine-soaked card filled with love and hope and renewal:
I used vintage cream paper from PTI to make this QACAS card. Using my NBUS MFT Die-namics Horizontal Stitched Cover-up Companion, I cut the apertures. I inserted a beautiful glittery snippet of pp in the top aperture and simply reinserted the bottom piece with the NBUS stamped sediment from Skipping Stones Design's "Cancer Schmancer" set. I added the enamel hearts and SHAZABAM, card done.

Here you can see the schparkly hearts and golden flourishes:
Skipping Stones Design is a new-to-me stamp company with wonderful stamps. The owner Heather is creatively holding a blog hop this week where a portion of the proceeds of her sales will go to the Komen Foundation. In addition, each talented blogger in the hop will be auctioning off their card(s) with all the proceeds going to the Komen Foundation. I'm not participating in the hop, but wanted to share the information with you. You can check it out at Heather's blog and the hop graphic is on my side bar.

For your blog
~~~
It's going to be a busy week and weekend here as we celebrate the grandtwins graduation from the 5th grade! No more elementary school, they'll be with the big middle-schoolers next year. I'm afraid I wasn't very creative with my cards for them due to lack of time:
Also, let's be honest, they're entering the age now where they are more interested in what's on the inside! In this case, I made a little pocket out of the same pp to hold a spot of casherino:
The celebration will include their parents getting away for the weekend to refresh before they have to start summer, which means we get the boys for a weekend sleepover! I think we might be going to the movies since no one can play outside in heat-stroke temperatures. So if you don't see me until next week, you know I'll be having fun! Or melted!
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
Please don't melt!!! We would miss you something terrible! :O
I'm with you on the heat. I don't mind a little, but once the humidity sets in, I can get a bit grumpy if I'm not kept at a reasonable temperature (...and "reasonable" seems to have a wide range of definitions in our house...)!
Love this pretty, hopeful card! Butterflies are my favorite summertime viewing pleasure and these are gorgeous! Love the added sparkle too!!!
When I read that the grandtwins are going to be middle schoolers next year, I about fell off my chair! Already?!! Time is not being kind to me. DS1 is moving on to 7th himself this fall and DS3 is finishing up kindergarten...sigh. Love the cards you made for them! Perfect for their milestone!
Thank you so much for your support of CASology over the years, Darnell, & thanks for playing along again for our 200th challenge! :)
What a gorgeous card Darnell and that sparkly butterfly paper is beautiful. I didn't get that aperture die but I'm wishing I did now because I can see that it would be fabulous for batch card making for any occasion. I bet the boys will be delighted with their cards and the content and I hope you have a wonderful weekend with them despite the excessive heat. Stay cool my friend.
Hugs
Oh Darnell - sounds as though you may need a trip to the antipodes to cool down - we have five days of sunshine forecast at the moment, so you had better be quick or you may dissolve the following week due to the rain.
Love your cards, especially the butterfly one!
Gorgeous butterfly card, Darnell!
We are also experiencing some really hot weather over here. So much so that I wish we already had the A/C installed in my office space. I suppose we cannot put that off for much longer. The grey cells tend to melt at temperatures over 26°C. (It's 27 right now, with the fan blowing and a long day ahead because of a tight deadline...)
I'm sure your grandchildren will appreciate the cards you made for them. I think they are just perfect for their age group.
Stay cool and healthy!
Beautiful card!! I love summer, but I cannot not take the heat neither. So far we have been in the upper 80's and that is hot but I can take that. It is when it get to the high 90's and when the heat index is in the 100's
Nan G said...
Love the card, Darnell! I've been looking at that set of dies and wondering and now it's popped into my basket. Ooo-hhh-ooo! A heatwave sounds good to me. It has finally started to warm up here. Enjoy your weekend with the Twinks.
Beautiful butterfly card and the grad cards are also fantastic. Very creative idea to 'present' the cash that our grandchildren enjoy:) It has been much warmer than 'normal' up here as well. Our winter chilled blood hasn't been ready for it, but it's nice to sit outside on 'balmy' evenings and mornings. Take good care, Hugs, Shirleyxx
Oh my, this sounds like the beginnings of a hot summer! Hope the grid keeps the power going, so you & Hammy & co. can stay cool. And I think the Twins' card looks quite grand. It has something young fellas like: sports, vehicles, and yes, celebrates the occasion too, with the school motifs. I love the way you've done the 5! Of course, they will be looking in the little pocket too! Enjoy your wkend with them. Am loving the way you've done the butterfly aperture card too. That is a very handy die to do the aperture, and love the way you've got the pretty b'flies tucked in the window. TFS & stay cool. Hugs
Joe was reading the upcoming temps to me this morning: One-oh-one, one-oh-five, one-oh-eight, and one-oh-ten. That last one is a doozy. But it still will only be 64 and parka weather inside so whatever.
Great card you really rocked that piece o' sparklies paper very nicely and set it off with a great greeting and tad bit of stitching too. Cool stuff!
HJ said...
Your cards are lovely, especially the first one. I had to laugh when I read about your grandtwins only caring about what's inside the cards. I know that's true with my grandson, but like you, I want to make a cool card for him anyway. Stay cool! We would definitely miss you should you melt. It's hovering at 90 today in Delaware plus the humidity! Ugh. Great day to craft. Enjoy your time with your grandtwins. They grow up so fast.
What an amazingly beautiful card. I love the refreshing flowers. The kind on paper won't melt in the heat at any rate. As for us, we are in a chill down and I am back to wearing a sweatshirt. But I guess it will be heating up again in a day or so. But I am not ready for any 100's at all. Give me the 80's as that is hot enough for me. You take care and stay cool however you can...even if you need to park in the bathroom. LOL
Please don't melt this weekend...we need you.
Hi Darnell from the Sierras. It's hot here too. I'm like you, I don't do well in the heat anymore. When my boys were young we had a boat and since we live very close to many lakes we were always on the water. The heat didn't bother me a bit. But now I leave the boating to my fisherman hubby and I stay in the air conditioning. 😊
Love, love, love your butterfly card. What a great way to use pp. I hope you don't mind but I just might have to CASE it 😊 Love your posts!
Stay cool!
I've got to say that I love the heat and I don't complain one teensy tiny bit when it gets hot. Even when it's so hot and humid that I have to sleep spread eagle on the bed so that there's no skin touching any other skin (no AC so it tends to get rather sticky around these parts). I've learned how to cope. I hope you survive your hot temps and come out unscathed.
I adore that butterfly card because it reminds me of looking through a bird blind and seeing the beautiful fauna on the other side!
Please don't let yourself melt Auntie! We need your humor to get through! I don't want your temps in the 100's either, we have had them before and I don't want to repeat the experience. lol But if we do, then we do. I will just add ice to the pool and soak in it. That's what you need, a pool with ice cubes! lol Anyway, I am loving your beautiful card. I have some of that paper so I know how beautiful in real life it is and you have used it perfectly. Love all the cut outs and inserts, makes this card have such interesting lines. Love the sentiment too. Never heard of this company, so will have to go check it out after I check out what you have been up too. Sorry I haven't been around in forever! This yard and other things have been keeping me busy. Which busy is good...but I hate missing out on what everyone has been up to. The boy's cards are fabulous as well. Don't matter what they look like cause as you said they are at the age where they just want what's inside....good old cold hard cash! And who can blame them?!!! Enjoy the weekend with you cutie pies!!! And please don't melt in that heat!!! Big hugs, Brenda
I needed to sit down, due to uncontrollable swooning over the luscious butterfly card you've treated us with! Gorgeous! Lucky you to have time with the twins (and lucky parents to have time without-refreshing and recharging for summer shenanigans is important!); hard to believe they're already stepping up from being 'little' guys, and are preparing for the new ventures that come with middle school! What fabulous Graduation cards you've made for me...a reminder that Ms. T will be graduating kindergarten, so I'd best be crafting her a special something to mark the event. Grade 1 in the fall...YIKES! Enough of this growing up so fast stuff! Hope the heat hasn't melted you; I much prefer you in solid form *grin*
