Papertrey Ink April 2014 Blog Hop ~ NBUS #124

Happy Friday!!

Thank you for whooshing through the week to get here! I have been rather piggy with your time this week as I posted nearly every day.

Today I have made two cards for the Papertrey Ink April 2014 Blog Hop. The photo inspiration board is bedeckled with lots of beautiful embroidered images for our challenge.
April-Blog-Hop-Inspiration
Here is my first card:
I used my NBUS "Lace Bouquet" by PTI. I colored the image with my SU markers in the colors of the current Colour Me ...! challenge: Bermuda bay, coastal cabana, Pacific point, and tempting turquoise.
I "fauxbroidered" my image with a white Signo pen. The image is stamped on PTI white and attached to a SU coastal cabana card base. On a piece of confetti vellum I embossed the sediment (PTI "Think Big Favorites #24) in Zing aqua embossing powder and overlaid it on the image, punctuating it with some sequints by Darice.

I'm also playing in the following challenges:

Seize the Birthday, where there is no "topping," so Anything Goes!

Addicted to Stamps and More, where the brief is "Make Your Mark."
GRAB OUR BADGE!

======================================================

My second card:
This is a super easy QACAS card. I used a PTI white card base and covered it with a piece of patterned vellum from my old Hot Off The Press stash. For the popped-up oval, I used a NBUS PTI "Limitless Layers Oval" die, cut from PTI white card. The birthday sediment is from PTI "Birthday Bash Sentiments" stamped in TH faded denim distress ink. The seed pearls are from SU and the shiny metallic butterflies are sequints from Darice.

I am also entering these challenges:

Butterfly Challenge hosted by the inimitable Mrs. A. The brief is to use glam butterflies that glitter and sparkle and shine and tingle.
Grab My Button.
Keep it Simple!, where the brief is "Bright Spark," using bright colors and/or sparkly things.
Seize the Birthday, where there is no "topping," so Anything Goes!
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where the theme is "Keep It Clean and Simple."

Love the image & colors on the first card and what a great piece of vellum on the second!

Princess Judy Palmer said...

Poor over-worked Hammy! And poor over-worked you! How long did it take you to "stitch" your fauxbroidered card? It looks like fabric or ribbon, definitely textured. You've done a fab job faking up the embroidery. Your second card is very nice too, a touch of elegance. I'm not sure about tingling butterflies though....

Sue said...

You have been busy Darnell.
The image on your first card is beautiful, initially I thought it was a piece of embroidery, the added white pen looks so effective and I love the embossed sentiment on vellum.
Your second card is gorgeous too, I love the colours and pretty butterflies.
I hope you have a good weekend.
hugs Sue xx

Two absolute stunners, Darnell!! Please tell Hammy that Miss Thing is at the spa getting all ready for his arrival!! And tell him not to forget his passport - those border guards will shoo him right back home, and all of your gardening plans will be ruined!! ha ha!!! AND, THANK YOU SO MUCH for the sweet Easter card - we (me and Miss Thing) just got it in the mail yesterday and we were over the moon!! That was so sweet of you (and Hammy!). Miss Thing has not let it out of her sight. I think she's forgiven Hammy for his "indiscretions" with the other girl hamsters!!

Holy Shamoly girl. You need to cool the jets or you are going to burn up on re-entry. I can smell the smoke here. Hammy has a few scorch marks too. Two great cards. I favor the second one slightly because of the lacy look. Then again the first one is colored to perfection. The heck with it. Tie score. both are winners.

I'm calling winner, winner for the PTI hop. You've made two really lovely cards, and I'll admit that I'm rather enamored of your second card. My dining room is just a shade lighter than your card's periwinkle. And those butterflies are stunning. The pearls are perfect as are the teeny-weeny scallops on the oval. Great cards, Miss mine-are-bigger-than-your-are-Harriet! Kim was funny to narc on the two of you! Have a GREAT weekend. Bev

Strangely a package has arrived at my house..........feels very bulky but I'm not opening it until 2nd. Will be in touch then.
