LIM 99-100, OLW 120 and ATCAS 3 ~ Sahweet! Drinks Are On The House!

And we're back around to Friday!  Whoosh!!

Here's a little comical card I made in honor of today's post.

The expression "drinks are on the house" makes me giggle, because every time I hear it, I picture everyone scurrying out the doors and windows and up ladders to reach the free drinks.

Okay.  Okay.

It's a recipe challenge over at Less Is More and Chrissie and Jen (with best wishes from Mandi!) want us to make a project with "Drinks!"  Note that they are celebrating Weeks 99-100 at Less is More!  Cheers to that and many more!!

I made this card.  I was quite happy with it because when I found I didn't have any nicely striped peppermint candy paper for the background, I took out my red pen and I made my own.

So festive!  It say's "Let's Be Merry," which is rather Christmasy, sorry.  I had misplaced my "Happy New Year" stamp at this point.

Done and dusted, I sat back with a contented sigh.  Then light dawned behind my right eyeball and as I whacked myself there, I asked, "Where is your 'white space?'  Hmmm? Hmmm?"  Knowing this would never do, I begain again.

And made this card which is more appropopo for LIM.

Yes?  Good!

Wait.  It gets better.  Turns out I killed two challenges with those peppermint candies because it just so happens that my cards fit challenge #3 at Addicted to CAS (ATCAS), where Patrice has chosen this code word:

What can I say?  Sahweet!

~~~
At this point, I noticed that this week's One Layer Wednesday (OLW) challenge was being hosted by Karen on her Snippets blog and the theme is, you guessed it, "Cheers!"  We are to create a one-layer card with some kind of drink on it.
Woo-Hoo.  Three challenges!
Wait.  The whole idea at OLW is, duh, "one layer."  Which are neither of my two drinkie-poo cards.  Well, gee, shucks, as long as I had the beverages out, I made another card.  I also placed my Happy New Year stamp, which I had misplaced earlier.
It was super easy to make this card because it's made from a photo of me taken while I was having a cool one after a heavy workout tying my shoes.
Doncha love my hat?  I wear it sort of like a helmet, for safety reasons.  I find that if I wear it when I'm out jogging, cars tend to veer off the road opposite of where I am.
I'm just kidding.  Cars don't actually veer.  After all, I live in California so no one even looks twice at my hat.
~~~

In spite of all the rush and jumble of the holidays, I am tickled to introduce you to a new friend.  When you get a minute, please help me welcome Nan G. of Froggy Designs!  Yup, Froggy Designs.  I don't know if Nan came across my Mr. Froggie while checking out the Playhouse, but I'm probably going to have to keep a close eye on him from now on!

Thank you, Nan, and welcome!

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy your day.

As always, thank you for stopping by to visit.  Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!

Not one, but four drinkie cards! I've been patiently waiting to see what you came up with for the LIM challenge and I was not disappointed! Honestly, I think I may like the "drinks are on the house" card the best, though the ornament in the martini glass is quite lovely.

Hi Darnell ... catching up after the holidays and finding you've been sooo busy ... stars, ribboned gift, white onesie (we call them babygro's but I prefer growbags!), and then a whole herd of drinks cards ... all of which have your inimitable style and 'effortless' attention to detail all over them ... amazing! Loved the pictures of your holiday happiness ... Happy New Year to you and yours! Anita :)

That's what my workout is missing - the HAT! Awesome. Also, I've already been indulging in medicinal hot toddies this chilly afternoon (I don't feel any better, but now I don't care that I'm sick!) so I REALLY love those cards :)

Well firstly Darnell, I love your workout hat! All your cards are fabulous, I really like the candy stripes that you did yourself and the drinks on the house gave me a good giggle. A great post Darnell. Hugs, Anne x

Wow, you have really packed a lot in your post, Darnell!! The "drinks on the house" card is a RIOT. And I love how you showed your before and after for the LIM challenge. The comment about no one looking twice at your hat due to your location caught me by surprise ... such fantastic writing (well, and of course, cards!)

Well, aren't you the busy little bee, so many cards and each and every one is just as cute as the next. I have to agree with Tracey, I love those ruby slippers and your hand made peppermint stripe paper, you are just so creative! Now on to your work out hat, looks just like mine but mine is orange and black. See you soon.

Wonderful cards honey - and now I have to try to creep into bed at 12:30 am and get off to sleep whilst still sniggering at your post!

I have a hard hat here from when some building work was done and I played project manager - gonna find the feathers and brighten it up a bit :)

Hugs, Di xx

Laugh a minute you are . Great cards. Got a thirst on now so I had a quick sip of the cocktail ( funny place to keep a bauble mind, kept banging me nose on it) It's ok though cos I topped it back up with water so no one else will know. Hic Mrs A.

I love all of them...such fun cards! I really love your homemade background paper, what a clever idea! I have taken a little time away from my craft room for the holidays this week and I had no idea I'd been missing so many opportunities to use my cocktail stamps...I've collected a few more than I'd planned to...now I think I need to get inky again soon!! Thanks for the inspiration, and thanks for making me laugh (as always). By the way, I misplace things all the time...now I'm looking forward to noting aloud when I've "placed" them...it will drive my husband bonkers if I say it often enough!!

Well, this post gives "On the House" a whole new meaning - literally! I doubt ppl would over-indulge if they had to climb on the roof for a drink! LOL You're too funny girl, and all of your cards are great, especially the last one! LOL Your hat reminds me of an earwig (we call 'em pincher bugs.) I just put my shoes on too, so thanks for letting me know that my proper work-out is completed for today :) Bwahahaha! Happy New Year!!

Ah, just enjoyed a good browse on Pinterest, then a lovely chuckle at Darnell's! Great way to start out a rainy Fla. Sad'dy. Loved all the cards, and your red-striped background was inspired. Clever girl. Ah, the hat might disappear...I like it way too much. I KNOW it would jumpstart my New Year's workout that I PROMISE I'm gonna start! Hugs & Happy New Year.

Wow! That's a lot of drinking. I LOVE your drinks on the house- too funny and it would have been perfect for the OLW challenge - I think it would be a great congratulations card. Having said that, the perfection of your red lines amazed me (and I thought there was still plenty of white space!) and then the pretty bauble in the glass. And I'm happy to say (and you will be too, I think), that I didn't recognize you at all in the last card! lol! Happy New Year!

Drinks On The House!! You are too funny and really made me laugh which is something I shouldn't be doing, trying not to open my mouth too wide at the moment!! I love the little glittery shoes too, I'm betting you've got a pair like that tucked away in your closet! Have a wonderful New Year, see you on the other side.

You're on fire girl! These cards make me want to raise a tall one and toast your talent!

The "drinks on the house" is clever as ever, the hand drawn stripes are unbelievable, and the sparkly bauble (love that word) in the glass is just oh so creatively cool.

Your story about workout lady had me hysterics!

You really do make our world fun!

You crack me up Darnell. I absolutely love all of the cards you've created and shared here. My fave would have to be the martini glass - loving 'your' peppermint stripes and the glitter is perfection!

Happy New Year!

Crikey Darnell, you sure have got a lot of 'drink' related stamps. Fab cards but think my fave is the LIM entry, love what you did with the bauble. I saw Simplicity also did the same theme but couldn't manage OL with my stamp.
Happy New Year.
