Mojo Monday 240 - May Mojo Madness Contest

Happy Tuesday!

I missed my Mojo Monday last week, so I tackled the new sketch for this week, designed by the uber talented Julee Tilman, which is:

In my forthright manner, I gotta tell you that this card was outside my comfort level by about six layers.  I think it's because the lady who lived in the apartment over the garage looked like Gloria Swanson, playing Norma Desmond.  I always thought she was a saleswoman for Max Factor pancake makeup.  Her name was Miss Mercedes.  She left an impression, both on her pillow and on me.  I wore lots of foundation undergarments over the years, but I never wore foundation makeup until my friend, Cheryl, hauled me bodily up to the Chanel counter in the mall in Denver for my 47th birthday.  It's taken a few years longer for me to build up the confidence to put layers on my cards like this:

It's a doozie of layers, huh?  (I just noticed in the wide shot that I sat the card on some old bird poop.  Sorry about that.  Avert your eyes.)

You should click on over to this week's Mojo Monday challenge for your own inspiration mojo! There are prizes this week!

More excitement today in the land of followers to my humble web-dress!  I send my appreciation to Ann of Kingston Mama Crafts, and Gillian, who is Made With Sparkle, for joining!  I am over the moon that I have 75 followers!  It doesn't seem like that long ago that I had only 5 and it's thrilling as can be watching it climb towards 100.  I can't thank you all enough, seriously.  If you send me your address, I'll send you a thank you card!  I promise I'll send one without bird poop on it.

Please enjoy ~ and, as always, thank you for stopping by to visit. Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!

Gorgeous card, like you I am a bit scared of cards with too many layers, but you have done a fab job of it

Lovely combination of blues and aquas. I used to do lots of cards with layers but have recently struggled to get them to look right. You've done a smashing job with this. Hope you're feeling a bit better today.

I have to remember not to eat or drink anything while reading your posts. I just sprayed my drink everywhere!

I'm with you on the layers - both card and make-up wise - but you rocked them in this card!

Wow - you did a great job! I think when there's lots of layers (not my favourite, either), going monochrome is a way to make it look a little less busy. Thanks for all your comments on my blog - I got them in my email in reverse order and after the 2nd or 3rd 'brilliant', I wasn't sure what was happening! LOL! You're a very kind and faithful reader - thank you! (love your make up story - I only wear tinted moisturizer - I hate having makeup on the phones! YUK!)

Wonderful card! I would not have known that this was out of your comfort zone. Great blog - you had me laughing by the 3rd sentence. Love your playhouse too! Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier today and leaving your kind comments.

I'm not comfortable with lots of layers either, Darnell. But you did a great job with this. Subtle papers and monochromatic colors keep it from being too busy. Hope you win the candy.
