ColourQ Challenge #132

Today I've made a card that I can link with this week's ColourQ challenge.  The palette is:

Very mod colors from the 70s!  I had shag carpet in that green and a carousel for coffee mugs, napkins, and salt/pepper shakers in those exact colors for the dining room table.  Also in the kitchen wallpaper border.  (Remember wallpaper borders?!)  I'll be honest, I was pretty over-saturated with those colors back in the day, so they aren't my favorites.  Individually I like them a lot, but together, I'm over it.

I made a card for a friend's daughter who just got blind-sided by her boyfriend of several years when he broke up with her.  She's an awesome young woman who doesn't know it now perhaps, but she deserves so much better!

This darling stamp is from Stamping Bella (Mo Manning).  The sentitment that comes with it, which I stamped on the inside is:

you can handle it.
you have your big girl panties on!

I'm going to make one for one of my sisters, too.  She is moving from Oregon to North Carolina and is driving her car, halfway with a friend, halfway by herself.  I will see her midway in Iowa in May when the four sisters get together for our annual reunion, so I can give it to her in person.  She truly has her big girl panties on to make that drive!

And I'll be repeating the phrase to myself over and over in the next two days.  On Thursday night I have to get up in front of a lot of people and give an inspirational and humorous message for my friend's installation as president of the group.  I do better writing than I do speaking.

But as you know, I don't do so good at typing any more.  I see my fingers have made up another new word.  I'll just let it be and see how finds it.  Who finds it.  Geesh.

Next, I'm going to go try on everything in my closets.  Feeling comfortable in my clothes will make all the difference in my confidence.  Then, if I don't get side-tracked rearranging the furniture, I'll start thinking of what to say.  Wish me luck!

(After eating all that Easter chocolate, I should just save myself the trouble and fast-forward right to shopping for a new outfit, in a bigger size, huh?  I mean, who am I kidding now?!  Talk about big girl panties!)

Please enjoy ~ and, as always, thank you for stopping by!   Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave me a comment!

The card is lovely, the sentiment is so funny. Don't worry about standing up to speak - just put your big girl panties on, take a deep breath and go for it. Nerves always come across well in a speech anyway, you will sound very genuine. Good luck (not that you need it!).

Love your stories so much and love your adorable card too. I was in high school for part of the 70's but other than avocado appliances I don't remember these colors. I happen to love all of them, together or separate. Again, your card is just too cute!

Love this card. It sure brought a smile to my face, and made me think what a useful thing that image and sentiment would be. I think I had the same kitchen as you did, growing up. Those colors are just mod, and you did a great job incorporating them into your sweet card.
